A Call for New Visions of Masculinity
After years of dreaming and months of planning, we are pleased to announce that All of Man is actively seeking new visual artists.
All of Man is the premier art boutique celebrating the male and male-identified figure. Rather than solely portray “the male nude” as a Greek-inspired, Adonis figure – which, in most Western contexts means young, white, able-bodied, cisgendered men – All of Man connects artists with buyers who appreciate the male figure in all its forms and variations, including trans men and nonbinary individuals. We do this because of the vast variety of buyers and art collectors we meet who revel in the male form, and believe, sincerely, that a single, unified marketplace for these buyers is an ideal way to connect them with artists, and to foster new relationships between them.
We also do this to offer a visual corrective to the narrow imagination of masculinity that has persisted in western culture for thousands of years, and to this day continues to harm those who refuse to conform to it.
So: what are we looking for? Photography, painting, drawing, printmaking, sculpture, digital artworks, and other visual media – of any style or medium – that appreciates, examines, features, or simply portrays male or male-identified bodies, nude or not. We’re open to hearing from all artists, even if male subjects only form a small portion of your overall portfolio.
What we are not interested in, it goes without saying, are works that uncritically reflect harmful or hateful ideologies, including white nationalism, trans- or homophobia, misogyny, ableism, and so on. If you believe your work critically explores these ideologies, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
We know, too, that this is a strange time, and that the COVID-19 pandemic may have changed artists’ plans or opportunities. If you are currently self-isolating but without a lot of opportunities to sell or promote your work, but don’t yet have any work that depicts or portrays the male figure, let us know if you’re interested in working with us later this year. We’re always interested in hearing your ideas.
If you or someone you know is working with these subjects, please don’t hesitate to reach out to us today. We look forward to seeing your work!
